How To Avoid An Acai Berry Scam

With all of the advertisements and media coverage today, you probably know how popular the acai berry is around the world and how controversial its health benefits are. The acai berry is a small purple-colored berry found on the acai palm tree and mainly grows in the swamps and flood plains of Central and South America. The berry is high in omega fatty acids, fiber and antioxidants, very similar in appearance to a grape and grows in groups of 700 to 900 berries. It has been a main part of the diet of the native people for many years.

After using the acai berry, one celebrity votes the berry as the #1 ‘super food’. Recent endorsements from many great celebrities have led many scam artists to try to make a profit by taking advantage of this new found opportunity. The acai berry is a very popular topic on news stations like CBS News, CNN, NBC and many fitness and health talk shows. It is now recommended that when shopping for acai berry products to be cautious because not all are made the same way; some are low quality and cheap.

3 things to look into to avoid acai berry scams:

1. Free Trials. Many times, free trials can be difficult to cancel and usually have little amounts of the acai berry in them.

2. Product label. In the ingredients, you want to find ‘pulp and berry skin’, no roots or seeds. You also need to find a product that is at least 1000 mg dosage. If you do not see or cannot find a label with this information, do not buy it.

3. Number of pills in the bottle. Many companies are selling 30 pills at 500 mg and 60 pills at 250 mg. Both of these only last 15 days when a dosage of 1000 mg is needed daily.

3 things to stay clear of when purchasing acai berry:

1. Pictures of celebrities. Celebrities, just like anyone else can like the acai berry for similar reasons, but how do we know the celebrity ever endorsed the product. If you see a celebrity’s picture on a product, the company may easily be trying to pull off a scam.

2. Extracts and blends. 5:1, 4:1 or any ratio. There are some companies who blend acai with other items because acai is imported and expensive. Blending it with less expensive ingredients keeps the cost down. A pill you buy may by 100 mg, but you may not know how much of that is acai berry.

3. Roots. No one eats the root of the acai berry and they have never been tested.

More About Acai Berry Scams

There are some websites that have free acai berry offers if you simply pay for shipping and handling. What you will not know is that with this the companies are actually signing you up for a trial program when you order a free bottle of pills. With this program you will be sent more pills and you will one day be billed for. What is happening is people are not reading the fine print and quickly sign up. Months later, once they have forgotten about the offer, they see that they have been charged hundreds of dollars sometimes. The acai berry does have great health benefits and getting a free bottle of the pills is very tempting, but you need to make sure you fully know and understand what you are signing up for.

One of the biggest ideas that supporters of the acai berry are using to attract people is claiming that it results in fast and sometimes extreme weight loss. The opponents of acai claim this is not true and there is no proof of this. It is true that acai berry is rich in antioxidants and makes you feel better and more active. This will lead to burning more calories and weight loss. There are some reports making people believe it is an appetite suppressant, allowing you to eat less. There is also no documentation that this is true eight. While the acai berry will make you healthier and aid in overall weight loss, there is actually no scientific evidence that goes along with this claim.
